HAVE YOU HAD AN EXISTENCE DISCONTINUATION REQUEST FILED AGAINST YOU?

A Guide to Your Options

Finding out that someone has submitted an Existence Discontinuation Request on your behalf can be distressing. It is natural to experience feelings of confusion, anxiety, or betrayal.

The Compartment of Unscheduled Departures recognises that this is a difficult time and has prepared the following information to help you understand your situation and the options available to you.

How to Confirm

Many individuals first become aware of a pending request through changes in their daily environment: unfamiliar figures in peripheral vision, spouses who avoid making long-term plans with you, or multiple perilously close calls with mortal danger. These indicators are not definitive. The Compartment respects client confidentiality and does not confirm or deny active requests.

Existence Discontinuation Requests can take up to fourteen days to process, so there is still plenty of time to relax. If you believe a request has been filed, you may submit a Status Inquiry (Form SI-7) at any Compartment location. Please note that Status Inquiries can take up to twenty-eight days to process.

You have several paths forward:

Contestation. You may formally contest the request by appearing in person at a specified Compartment location. You are encouraged to arrive alone, unarmed, and to have your affairs in order. The Compartment notes that contestation proceedings have a one-hundred percent resolution rate.

Negotiation. In some cases, applicants may be open to withdrawing their request. The Compartment can facilitate contact for a modest fee. This approach is most effective when the original grievance involved a misunderstanding, and least effective when it involved romantic entanglement.

Pre-emptive Counter-Filing. You may submit your own Existence Discontinuation Request naming the original applicant. This does not cancel the existing request, but it does ensure mutually assured administrative consequences. If you are unsure of the original applicant's identity, the Compartment will accept an educated guess. Standard filing fees apply.

Practical Guidance for the Interim

While your situation is being resolved, the Compartment recommends the following:

Maintain your regular routine where possible. Unnecessary disruption only adds to stress.

Spend time in open, well-lit areas to improve your sense of safety. Avoid cramped or cluttered spaces with limited visibility.

Keep windows unobstructed to allow natural light — a clear mind requires a bright environment.

Take long walks alone to process your feelings. Fresh air and solitude can provide a valuable perspective.

Inform others of your whereabouts so loved ones do not worry. A detailed itinerary shared with trusted associates ensures someone always knows where you are.

If approached by strangers, remain calm and avoid sudden movements. Stillness promotes peace of mind.

Further Resources

For additional support, the Compartment suggests reaching out to friends, family, or spiritual advisors. A dedicated helpline exists for those affected by pending requests, though it is not currently staffed.

The Compartment of Unscheduled Departures wishes you clarity in this challenging time.
